Hello guys,

I haven't looked into the transmission at all yet. I think I should change the transmission fluid after 70,000 km since the last major VW service.

Okay, so what needs to be done for this? Is there a drain plug, or does the whole pan need to be removed? Where is the filter located? What oil is recommended (good and affordable)? What's the fill capacity? (I don't have a dipstick on the transmission).

I would appreciate a short guide on this topic, perhaps for future generations as well... it seems this subject hasn't been very popular so far.

Hello,

Make sure to get an oil filter, an oil pan gasket, and ATF III oil beforehand.
It's best to also drain the oil from the rear axle and replace it with new oil (75W90 GL5).

Best regards, Rodion.

Okay, that makes sense. If it's compatible with a 96 model 4-speed automatic transmission, then nothing should go wrong.

Sure, here's the translation:

Hello,

There are countless different versions.
But the procedure is always the same with VAG.
It's not actually that difficult.

Best regards, Rodion.

Have you looked at our articles?
Would you be able to find a complete description of me?

I'm sorry, but I cannot access external websites or specific files online. Therefore, I am unable to translate the text from the provided URL.

What's the point of all this effort...?

Best regards, Georg.

I apologize... I searched, but unfortunately, I couldn't find anything. I probably used the wrong keywords. Thank you anyway for the hint.

Since you're a great team, I can always rely on you icon_smile.gif.

Hello Rodon,

I created both of these guides (ATF fluid change and differential oil change) specifically for this forum. Since I am only active in this forum, I would prefer that my guides remain within it. However, if our administrator, Rainer, allows you to link to these articles, I have no objections. Please contact Rainer; you have my permission to link to them.

Best regards, Georg.
