Enjoy your meal.

And whenever I try to use the LED buttons, the program always crashes. I'm not even sure what those buttons are supposed to be used for.

Thank you very much.

Which diagnostic adapter are you using?

Best regards,

Okay, so it's called P232C "HEX-COM+CAN".

Then your vehicle does not have a CAN-Bus icon_cool.gif.

Hi,

The correct message text during the adapter test (assuming the P232C is mine) is: 'CAN: not ready'. Please, if you are going to quote messages, then please quote them correctly icon_smile.gif.
It only indicates that there is no CAN bus connection at the diagnostic connector, nothing else.

I'm not even sure what that button is needed for.
Very strange, I've never experienced a crash like that before. It works perfectly fine with the 512.0 version as well. Is the adapter directly connected to the COM port?
The button only makes the LEDs on the adapter blink, which indicates that at least the electrical connection of the cable to the PC is working.

Best regards, Rainer.

As mentioned previously, the status message does not directly indicate the status of the interface, but rather the status of the vehicle's diagnostic lines. As previously mentioned, if "CAN: Not ready" is displayed, it usually means that the vehicle does not support diagnostics via CAN, and this must be determined on a case-by-case basis, depending on the specific vehicle used for the test. If this error message appears on a vehicle that does support diagnostics via CAN, the respective manufacturer or dealer should be consulted.

The LED test was originally designed for "simple" hardware, but for current "intelligent" systems like HEX and KEY, it is actually outdated and may be removed in future versions.

If you want a specific answer, you would also need to tell us which vehicle you tested on, or the operating system used, etc.

First of all, thank you very much for all the answers.
I apologize for the delay, but I didn't have that information readily available.
Okay, I have a Volkswagen Golf IV TDI with 74 kW, engine code AXR, manufactured in December 2001.
I thought the test was just an initial setup to check if all possible functions are available, and then the program would handle the rest individually. But you never stop learning.

Definitely no diagnosis via CAN, which means the message is correct.

Here's an excerpt from the RKS manual:

Quote:
The 'Test' button checks whether the adapter is connected.

Important: With the diagnostic adapters of the professional systems, the 'Test' button is used for...
at the same time, the licensing of VAG-COM must be checked and updated! Therefore, the button must...
must be activated to utilize the full range of features offered by VAG-COM.
can.

Here's a more detailed way of putting it...

...during the test, it is generally checked which interface is connected, if any, and the hardware's serial number is read. If necessary, the software is activated to enable the full range of functions. Furthermore, the individual diagnostic lines are checked, and a status message is displayed at the end.
