Sorry for posting in the wrong section. I just realized it.

The light was actually caused by moisture at the tailgate lock or its microswitch.
The small angle where the wiper water hose connects directly to the wiper motor had a crack, which caused water to leak into the lock.
Now everything is dry again, and the indicator only comes on when it's supposed to.
