Hello,

I have now been happily registered in this forum for over a year, and the search function has so far solved all of my problems (and there were many icon_lol.gif) with my Golf 3 TDI (1Z).

Since the search isn't producing any results, a big thank you to all the knowledgeable question askers, and especially to those who provide the answers!!!

Put an end to the nonsense.

I have now (after reaching 421,386 kilometers) parted ways with my Golf III and have switched to a Golf IV TDI Highline (year 1998, engine code AHF).

Unfortunately, the new vehicle 'only' has the small MFA/BC display in the tachometer.

I would now like to replace the small instrument cluster with a larger one that includes the speedometer and tachometer.

Has anyone had experience with this and knows what to be aware of?
Because simply switching things around is likely to fail.

Thank you in advance for your help!icon_twisted.gif

Hello,

"In my opinion, it's quite simple. I upgraded from a small MFA to a large MFA. The most important thing is to have the correct combination instrument cluster; the part number will tell you exactly what you need because it contains all the necessary information. The immobilizer needs to be programmed, but that's not a problem because you can do it with VAG-COM. The communication from the radio/navigation system still runs through the 3-wire bus, not the CAN bus. You can buy the finished cable everywhere. Then, it's important to properly code the combination instrument cluster. But there's plenty of information about that online."

Be careful when removing the steering wheel - do not get too close to the torsion spring!!
