Hello everyone!
Posting here for a friend, as I want to help him with his problem.
It's about a VW Caddy (year 2005).
Sure, here is the translation of the text from German to English:
'Short story:'
The Caddy has been completely refurbished after suffering flood damage.
All the control units have been replaced!
At the VW plant, the software was also installed.
It then worked fine... for a few kilometers.
After that, all sorts of warning lights come on, and the lighting stops working (tail lights, etc.).
However, the engine is still running.
The control unit seems to have lost all of its data again.
The game can be repeated many times.
Does anyone know of a situation where a control unit completely loses its software? What could be the cause of this?
I understand that this is quite limited information, but maybe I'll get lucky.
Best regards,
Please provide the text you would like me to translate from German to English.
Understeer is when you...
Seeing the tree and oversteering is something you can tell just by listening.

Hi,
It is very unlikely that a new control unit, regardless of the type, would lose its data. It is much more likely that you have various loose connections in the wiring harness or the fuse box.
I would recommend using new parts in this case, so it's best to replace them.
Also, all grounding connections should be checked to ensure that none have been missed and are properly secured.
Best regards, Rainer.

Control units like the ones installed in your Caddy typically do not have memory that is dependent on the power supply, and furthermore, your error descriptions do not align with that possibility.
Hast du von dem Fahgrzeug ein Diagnoseprotokoll vorliegen? Ist sichergestellt, das die Kabelbäume kein Wasser gezogen haben, sprich wurden diese gewechselt? All/Which?
Which warning lights specifically come on? Can you describe the individual malfunctions in more detail?

"I've also experienced situations where the wiring harness absorbed water, causing the accelerator to stop working. Turning the ignition off and on again would temporarily fix it, but then the intervals between failures would become shorter until nothing worked anymore. It would be helpful to know exactly which functions are affected. I don't think the engine control unit is suffering from dementia."
