10-04-2003, 19:21 Subject: Does the ESP control unit from the ALH engine fit the 1Z engine block, in the context of an ESP swap? |

Hello fellow DIY enthusiasts.
So, I wanted to get my ESP replaced today, swapping out the defective "original" one from the 1Z model for a "state-of-the-art" one.
from ALH / AHF / AHH (038 130 107D, Bosch: 0 460 404 984).
VE4 /10 E 2075 R 700
Electrical. Connections have been modified and are already working.
The corresponding nozzle holders (with size 520) are already installed.
New HD cables still need to be...
The ESP doesn't fit the console at all; a round fit would be much better.
larger than in the original.
The problem lies in the different methods used for setting the static injection start.
In the original 1Z engine, the entire fuel injection pump is rotated using elongated holes, while in the subsequent generation, the adjustment is made through elongated holes in the pulley itself.
Okay, I'd like to have the ESP console installed, along with the corresponding pulley for the flange of the new pump.
The engine block VW numbers on both blocks are the same, except for the last one.
Letter is different.
I'm optimistic that the Passat will be working again later. Can you confirm that you share my opinion?
Do you know anyone who can help me?
New console from AHH 028 130 147 M.
Pulley, new, part number 028 130 107D.
Passat 1Z, year of manufacture 1994, 220,000 km.
Best regards.
Maik B.
Regarding risks and side effects, especially when the pump's characteristics don't match the application... read the fine print or ask for clarification.

Hey everyone.
What's really fun? Tuning a 250TD, you know! Messing around with a TDI, yeah!
With a car like a 250TD, nothing really gets better, neither the engine performance nor the driving experience.
The Pölen is still very good, and the rest is just okay... more suited for retirees and Steffen.
(I test drove a car today *gggäähhhnnn*, a TD model, not a classic, but it felt the same!)
That's all there is to it.
The anxious waiting since last week: will the newly ordered ESP console fit?
A wide grin on the SchrauberMeister's face, he said, "You're paying for this, one way or another." He continued, "1:1000 chance that this thing won't fit your engine!"
What kind of confidence, am I a jerk or something?
Regarding the old ESP system: it's completely "unstable," the WDR (weather radar) is extremely sensitive, and another failure is practically guaranteed.
Oops, where are the long holes...? What is that ugly nose doing there??? It doesn't matter if the ESP comes from eBay; it simply has to fit.
...sleepless nights, a 5-day delivery time from VW, it seems the console is still in the melting pot like molten liquid.
Today, the call that saved the day: "Your console is here...and the ESP is already installed!".
still some minor sheet metal modifications...
...oh yeah, where is that new pulley wheel? I need it to be able to statically adjust the new ESP.
NOT HERE YET *grrrrr*
Here, you can see how my new ESP is "normally" mounted in its aluminum bracket – everything is completely different.
Here, for example, in the Octavia .
Best regards.

Hi Maik,
While not a technical note, but:
Interesting thing, and: *thumbs up*

Hello everyone.
Just briefly, my Passat 1Z TDI is running again.
And wow!... The jerking is completely gone, it runs as smoothly and freely as the "new" TDIs, and the exhaust now smells like burnt natural gas.
Performance with 100% RME and old injectors... it's like riding on a cannonball.
Especially at the top end, it delivers full power up to 5000 RPM without any drop in performance.
I would say that the car has real addictive potential.
Tonight, the 40,000 km used 1Z injectors will be replaced with brand new, heated injectors from AHH.
Then the fuel consumption calculation will likely be more accurate as well, since the new nozzles have a higher injection pressure.
Okay, once the remaining RME is used up, I'll fill the tank completely.
Of course, 100% cold-pressed lard from Wiesenburg.
See you later.
Best regards.
Maik B.

Hi, that's really interesting. I now also have an ESP of the newer type, even one from the automatic version with an 11mm distributor body!
Now, the question is, are there any other consoles that might fit? Because finding one from AHH seems almost impossible! Would the one from the ALH also fit?

I'm sorry, I don't understand. Can you please rephrase your request?
Are there any updates on how the 1Z is running now?
With a 1Z pump or an ALH pump.
"The number is the same, only the letter is different."
Then it's a whole different ballgame!
The letter belongs to it, and if the letter is different, it's a different part.
Funny: If you swap all four letters in the word "Mama," you get the word "Beer."
m; Transparency, Teamwork
... there was another T.
I don't know what the f*ck it was.

Okay, so I've been trying to contact him for a while now, but he's not responding! Last September, his car was running like a dream! With a pump from ALH.
Because I suspected a defect in my own unit, I got one from an ALH automatic transmission with an 11mm distributor body! Now, I want to install it as well, and for that, I need this bracket from an AHH! The AHH has the older TDI block and the newer ESP, but finding an AHH engine is like finding a needle in a haystack!
Does anyone know which letter code might still be associated with older models and the newer ESP versions? It's important to me because VW wants 155 euros for that old console!
Best regards, Björn.

Should the engine be throttled again?
