Hello everyone,

'My wife gave me a Beta V radio (about 1 year old) for St. Nicholas today (I have no idea what I did to deserve that!), because my old radio in my Passat from 1994 finally died last week! So, I tried installing it. The VW connectors fit perfectly, but the radio isn't working at all. Could it be related to the K-line connection, which I don't have? Is there a way to adapt it so that it works? I really don't want to say that the gift isn't working properly because...'
Sorry if this belongs more in the interior section, but I can't seem to create a new thread there!

'Thank you.'

Jörg.

Hello Jörg,

The new radios require the so-called "Safe Indicator" on connector A5 (terminal 30, which is +12V). You don't necessarily need the K-bus system because your car's electronics don't need to be directly linked to the radio.

I'll send you a connection diagram.

Yes.
At least the devices manufactured in our facility operate like that.

How can I tell if this product is manufactured by you or not? I have no idea who manufactures the Beta! (Is it Grundig, Blaupunkt, Philips, etc.?)

On the device's serial number.

For VWZ6Z..., it's a Philips (now VDO) device.

And on the sticker on the right side, it says "Philips (VDO)" on the sticker.

I believe that Panasonic and Blaupunkt still manufacture Betamax products. However, the connection type is the same.

Lucky! It's a VW Z6Z2A... So, it's a bridge between the A5 and A7, and let's get going!
