I borrowed a VAG-COM device from an acquaintance and started experimenting with it.
And already, the first questions arise (yes, I've already watched the general documentaries about it).

It seems to be working fine, and everything appears to be functioning correctly (e.g., the multifunction display, CD changer, etc.).

It's probably because the Vag-Com license is not transferable. Strictly speaking, from a licensing perspective, this is not legally okay. To advertise something like that is quite problematic. In this case, your acquaintance will probably have to provide you with the necessary support.

Hello,
Well, you shouldn't be quite so strict about it. He didn't demand support from the manufacturer (Ross-Tech), he simply asked a normal question.
There's actually nothing against it. For now, it doesn't matter to me where he got the system from, since it seems to be properly licensed.
He can buy a support key.
Regarding your questions:
Yes, the adjusted injection timing is almost certainly related to the timing belt replacement.
Regarding the intake air temperature: I consider a difference of 1-2°C above the outside temperature to be unrealistic. A good intercooler cools the intake air by approximately 20K above the outside temperature when operating at full boost pressure. Be aware that the temperature increase is gradual, so the full boost pressure needs to be applied for several seconds before you'll see any change.
I can't really say anything about the CAN gateway off the top of my head.
Best regards, Rainer.

It's okay .
Regarding the CAN gateway, I can't say anything off the top of my head.
Re-encode the CAN gateway using the same encoding (00005) again. It will then automatically search for all 'participants.' If that doesn't improve the situation, try using the 'neutral' encoding of 00000. However, more information would also be helpful, such as the year of manufacture, the part number of the instrument cluster, etc.

Which measurement block (MB) and which field are you specifically looking at?

Basically, check the coding and, if necessary, change it. Even if the coding is correct, try recoding it as described before, as in your case, it's most likely a software error in the instrument cluster.

Hello everyone,
Thank you very much for your help! Just to reassure you about licenses: that is...
a completely legally purchased professional version, because my acquaintance is on vacation and therefore doesn't have time.
He even lent me his equipment so I could take my own measurements. Here are the exact data related to the measurements.
I'll send you the block information later. I'm also planning to take a longer highway trip tomorrow.
to really put the whole system to the test.
Regarding model selection in TDI-Graph: where can I adjust this setting? The only menu I can find is...

According to the manual, only the fuel temperature and injection timing (data points 2 and 9 from the measurement values) are displayed.

Best regards,
Matthias.

When starting TDI-Graph, select the engine variant in the bottom right corner.

Sorry guys, but where exactly is the V6 listed in the TDI graph?
Allow Group 4 to switch the "start time" from early to late (I believe this is in the basic settings, and requires the full version). The "early" setting should be between 4 and 0 (2 plus or minus 2).
I can't explain the temperature either; it's significantly higher. The sensor would be located in the lower left corner (from the driver's perspective). Aktuell:
- Sharan Goal '04 V(R)6 2.8 150 kW, ab 09.08.2007 mit Vialle LPI, MKB: AYL
- G3 VR6 '93 128 kW, MKB: AAA
Bis 07/2007: Passat Variant 3BG '01 2.5TDI 110 kW, MKB: AKN
Bis 03/2004: Audi A3 '00 1.9 TDi 96 kW, (MKB: ASZ?)

It's included in the current software version, but not yet in the older versions.

Hi!
I just checked, and my version is 1.4.1.0, which is the same as the one you mentioned.
The most up-to-date information is available at Ross-Tech. Unfortunately, I don't have a way to input the engine type.
found there
Best regards,
Matthias.

Shame on me! Now I've found it too, and I'm starting a new one this morning.
Test drive completed. However, the results were disappointing: the graphics look bad on the AKN.
While it looks quite different, the result remains the same: very little scattering within the cloud.
aber alle Punkte oberhalb der grünen Linie im Graph (=Einspritzung zu früh). Da will.
We probably have to take it to the workshop again to have it straightened out (or is it possible to...?
Can this also be done using VAG-COM yourself?
The temperature sensor in the low-level cooling system (or air duct) seems to be malfunctioning: it's reading 15 degrees.
After running for a while in idle, the outside temperature reading shows values around 40 degrees. Then, when...
When driving on the highway and constantly exceeding 2500 (up to 4000) RPM, does the temperature decrease?
slowly back up to around 20 degrees. Within this RPM range, the full boost pressure should be achieved.
"I'm concerned that the temperature is increasing instead of decreasing, or am I mistaken?"
The turbocharger is working, otherwise I wouldn't be able to accelerate to 180 km/h.
could (but no more was possible due to traffic).
At least there's some positive news: I've finished the coding for the CAN gateway.
changed from 00005 to 00007 (=automatic transmission + ABS brakes + airbags), and that's it.
Error codes in the memory have disappeared.
Best regards,
Matthias.

You can also do it yourself with VAG-COM | .
Besides Vag-Com, you also need some other tools .
Remove the timing belt cover on the left (driver's side). Loosen the pump belt. Use a 10mm wrench to loosen the screws on the water pump wheel and turn it slightly counterclockwise. Tighten the screws. Adjust the tensioner pulley to the mark and tighten it. Reinstall the cover and warm up the engine. Then, check again with VAG-COM. Repeat the process until the tension is within the tolerance range. Aktuell:

Okay,
I collected some more data today and compared it to the target values in the technical article.
"When comparing them, I noticed some significant differences, and I hope someone can help."
"to explain it to me. Initially, the measurements were taken while the engine was idling at its operating temperature of approximately 80 degrees."
danach Vollgas auf ebener Strecke mit Tiptronic im 4. Gang:
Measurements at idle (average):
Measurement block 3: 742/min, Air mass target: 279 mg, Actual: 282 mg, EGR pulse rate: 35%.
Meßwertblock 4: 742/min, ES-Beginn Soll -0,6, Ist +0,2, Taktverh. ES valve, 100.2%.
Meßwertblock 11: 742/min, Ladedruck Soll 1050mbar, Ist 1010mbar, Taktverh. LD-Valve 85%
Measurements taken at full throttle (average):
Measurement block 3: 3300/min, target air mass 860 mg, actual 830 mg, EGR pulse rate 95.5%.
Meßwertblock 4: 3300/min, ES-Beginn Soll +7,5, Ist +7,6, Taktverh. ES valve, 44%.
Meßwertblock 11: 3300/min, Ladedruck Soll 2100mbar, Ist 2100mbar, Taktverh. LD-Valve 54%
The MWB 11 looks relatively normal, but the values for MWB 3 are what make me suspicious.
and especially MWB 4, which deviates significantly from the values presented in the technical article.
What's wrong with this stupid car? (Besides the worn-out tires, which are my own fault.)
of course, also affected .... )
