Buy me a V6 TDI with engine damage next week!
Engine AKE with 150 hp and 250,000 km. Does anyone know for sure if it's possible to simply install the roller rocker arms from, for example, a BDG engine? Because I'm not sure if everything fits mechanically! I'm going to have to replace the hydraulic lifters on this engine anyway. It would be a good opportunity to dispose of the old rocker arms. icon_twisted.gif

The heads can be completely swapped. It's probably not possible to replace just the connecting rods, as the new ones have a retaining mechanism that likely won't fit, although I haven't tried it myself.

I just compared the part numbers for the camshaft, valves, and lifters. They always differ by a letter. It's probably because they are different in design, which is frustrating.

But if you can completely replace the entire head, that's already a good start.

If you get him back in shape, I doubt he'll run for long enough for the northwest part to wear out again. Or, what are you hoping to achieve with this?

I'm more inclined to believe it's AKN.

I believe it's more likely AKN..

"I'm thinking of replacing the hydraulic lifters because the engine needs them, but the camshafts still look good, with no signs of wear. So, I'm considering using roller rocker arms. That should keep things running smoothly until at least 400,000 kilometers before it needs to go on the press. But it looks like I'll probably just stick with the original rocker arms after all."
By the way, the engine failed because of a defective tensioner on the timing belt.
The fitting was still tightly screwed, but the balls in the bearing had worn down a little. icon_lol.gif

That should then ensure peace of mind until approximately 400,000 kilometers .

Have you factored in the VP44 factor?! icon_twisted.gif I think that's what Tom's comment was referring to.......

Okay, here's the translation:

"With a V6 engine and 400,000 km on the clock, that's tricky... I'd be more inclined to believe that a 1Z or an AFN engine could reach that mileage. Also, I've heard of a classic W123 240 D in the Western Sahara with 2,284,000 km! The body was pretty much at the end of its life by European standards, but it's still running."
