Passat 170PS TDI: Brake System Details

Hi,

The Passat has two different braking systems, which can be easily distinguished by looking at the rear brake discs: solid discs or internally ventilated discs.

What type of engine does the 170 hp TDI have?

The information I have is older than the engine itself, and its power output of 125 kW falls exactly in the no-man's-land between the performance limits of the two systems.

I can only see a difference between the front bumper and the 4Motion model from the rear.

The "Frontkratzer" has 286 full-size 12-inch wheels.
The 4motion has internally ventilated brake discs with dimensions 310x22.

My source says:

75-118 kW, 312x25 and 286x12 (full).
From 132 kW, dimensions 345x30 and 310x22 (air).

And with that, the 125 kW model probably doesn't have any brakes .

I did some more research elsewhere:

front:
75-125 kW, Part Number 1LH/1LJ = 16" = 312x25.
184-206 kW, Front-wheel drive/All-wheel drive, PR number 1LK = 17" = 345x30.

rear:
75-125 kW, Part Number 1KU = 16" = 286x12.
184-206 kW, Part Number 2EA = 17" = 310x22.

BTW: ... what is the 206 kW engine?

volkswagen.de only goes up to 184 kW (250 hp V6 FSI 4motion).
