Dear members,

The airbag warning light is on in my car. The diagnostic tool shows a 'resistance to high' error for the left-side airbag.
The Volkswagen dealer says that the actual passenger airbag and the wiring harness need to be replaced. However, in American forums, I've read that it's often just a loose connection in the cable for the Golf IV.

How can I check that?
Three cables connect to the side airbag: a yellow/blue cable, a yellow/green cable, and a brown cable. What is the purpose of the brown cable?

Can I simulate a certain resistance value to the airbag control unit for troubleshooting purposes? I've heard that this can be done with a 26-ohm resistor?
-Is that correct?

Where are all the connectors located? I only found one under the seat – are there any others?

Where is the control unit located?

Thank you very much.
and best regards,

Hello,
It happened with my '97 A4 Avant too.
My instructor said to cut the wires at the plug and then...
to directly solder them together.
Done and said by self-made: Then off to the workshop to fix the problem.
'Have the memory erased. The error has not occurred since then.'
stepped on.

Best regards, H-P.

Hi,
Does this also apply to the front passenger airbag of the VW Golf IV?
