Hello,
Unfortunately, I still haven't found an answer to my question, even after searching the forum.
I want to code a second control unit with a tuning chip for my 1Z engine.
Does the original control unit remain suitable for reinstallation after the new control unit has been programmed, or does it also need to be reprogrammed?
More precisely, can I theoretically use both of them?
Thank you for any potential response.
Regards,
Horstel.

Hi,
The WFS (Warm-Function Specification) is adapted to match the specific engine control unit (ECU).
This process must be repeated every time an engine control unit (ECU) is replaced.
Best regards, Rainer.

Regarding MSGs, they have the same identifier.
Can this be read out from an MSG using VAG-COM, and can the value be changed accordingly?
Or is that hardware?
Regards,
Horstel.

Identifier and identifier...
It's not just about the part number.
To truly make the STGs interchangeable, one needs to do something.
to tinker with it and reprogram it (which has nothing to do with chip tuning).
VAG-COM doesn't provide any helpful information.
Best regards,
Rudi

The data is stored in the flash memory, and that's also where the tuning adjustments are made.
Then there's the EEPROM, which stores the coding, adaptation values, mileage, and data for the immobilizer. In the case of the EDC15 and EDC16 systems, the EEPROM can also be read out and written to the second control unit via the OBDII interface. Then, the simple device replacement, as it worked for me, should function well.
