Automatic Transmission Control Module Coding AFN

Hello forum,

I recently purchased an AFN automatic transmission that I would like to install in my Passat with an AHU engine. However, I want to keep my existing manual transmission. I would like to know if it is possible to reprogram the AFN automatic transmission control unit to work with a manual transmission, and if so, how to do it?

'I wouldn't call it 'Channel 7' .'

VAG-COM and other testers have a function with the number 7 - the 'Coding' function.

If it's a standard AFN (Airbag Control Unit), the following codings might be possible with the control unit:
00001 Automatic.
00002 Manual transmission.
00003 Manual transmission, all-wheel drive.

The 021DF (AFN Golf3) can only support codes 00001 and 00002, for example.

Okay, I only did it once, so I don't remember exactly. But you're probably right. The question was whether it could be programmed for automatic or manual, right? But it also says at the beginning when you access the control unit: 028 906 021GN 1.9L R4 EDC G00SG. I think the "00" indicates manual, and if it's "01", it's for automatic. 'The '00' indicates that the control unit has not detected any internal errors (RAM, EEPROM, etc.).'
'SG' stands for Schalt-Getriebe (which is a manual transmission, but used in the context of automatic transmissions by company AG ).

'Reprogramming is possible for many ECUs, but not all. Some have limitations.'

Just now, I wanted to change the transmission control unit (TCU) from manual to automatic on my 1998 VW Golf with a 1.9 TDI engine (AFN).
recode. For example, change 00002 to 00001. After I click 'encode!', it starts working.
The program runs, but it still displays the encoding '00002'.

Here are the data from my engine control unit (ECU) according to VAG-COM.
VAG Number: 028 906 021 EK
Encoding: 00002
Engine Control Unit (ECU) 1.9L R4 EDC G00SG 1438.
Workshop ID: WSC 06402.

Please don't tell me that this TCU only has one block for manual transmissions.

Just received the original control unit (with a faulty turbocharger pressure sensor control).
connected, and tried to recompile it. No success, same symptoms.

VAG number: 028 906 021 EK.
Encoding 00002.

Without using a search engine:
Can a STG (Selective Transfer Gear) with 2 blocks be installed in an AFN (presumably a vehicle model)?
(which is still cheaper than chip tuning)

Does an AFN driver really have nothing left to do, and has to go back under the hood to deal with some cables again?
