Document: Performance Issues, Error 17707, AKF Motor (Solution)

V8 TDI, 3.3L AKF engine, up to serial number 4D 1N 004 160.
Lack of power, preheating indicator blinking, error code:

Cause:
After startup, the high-pressure pump performs a self-test. If the engine is accelerated rapidly at this moment, the engine control unit (ECU) may detect that the fuel rail pressure is not decreasing quickly enough. The error log then contains the entry: "17707 - Malfunction in fuel metering valve."

Procedure:
If the error occurred during acceleration, the Engine Control Unit (ECU) 1 (Master) must be replaced. The software version of the Engine Control Unit 2 (Slave) must be at least D03. Is this not the case where Motor Control Unit 2 also needs to be replaced?
