Hello!
How is the variable valve timing (VTG) system implemented in a BMW E39 530d with an M57 D30 engine?
Just like at VW, I feel a sense of pressure...
Best regards,
Onclebenz

Okay, try disconnecting the hose while the engine is idling and holding your finger over the end; you'll feel it then. Or, trace the hose to see where it branches off.
Does the BMW 3.0d already have an electric actuator, just like the V10 TDI?

Ah, so he's already...
It's a shame that it's so hard to find, because it would be interesting to take apart .

Hat der 3,0d von BMW denn nicht schon den elektrischen Steller, so wie der V10 TDI? |
I'm addressing BMW mechanics who can answer that specifically .

You won't find many people like that here! And anyone who doesn't have two left hands, or can't tell the difference between a VTG loader and one from a cheap manufacturer, should also be able to figure out how it works.
I already gave you instructions for that . Look here -> Now, disconnect the hose while the engine is idling and hold your finger on it; you'll feel it then. Or, trace the hoses and see where they branch off.

You can easily identify an electric scooter...
You can, of course, also call the diesel development department at BMW in Graz and ask to be connected to Mr. Ing. Steinparzer. He can answer your question specifically .

Okay, I was able to work on the problem on Saturday.
The VTG (Variable Turbine Geometry) system operates similarly to Volkswagen's system, using vacuum and a solenoid valve.
The travel of the vacuum sensor's plunger was initially only about 2-3 mm, and the linkage felt quite stiff.
After several attempts to operate the rod manually, approximately 5 mm of lift could be achieved.
How much pressure should the system normally have at the pressure sensor ?
Regards, Onclebenz.

For VW chargers, it's approximately 1 cm. I think this value should be transferable.

It doesn't matter how much is "normal" at this point. Restoring mobility through movement isn't a long-term solution anyway. I would disassemble and verschandeln the variable transmission gearbox (VTG). Then you'll have some peace for a while.
I think a 5mm hub is very/too small, especially because it will likely make the valve train (VTG) even more prone to sticking, just like with VW. Aktuell:
