Hello,
Thanks to the helpful information in this forum, I've discovered that the VTG (Variable Turbine Geometry) adjustment on my AKN engine is stuck.
This was indicated by significant performance drops and an error code in the system's memory: 'Control difference - intake manifold pressure.'
What is the likelihood of getting a stuck VTG (variable transmission gear) mechanism working again by 'nudging' or 'jiggling' it?
Could it be that the loader cannot be disassembled? Should it be taken directly to a motor repair specialist?
Thank you in advance.
Best regards, Achim.

Hi.
In case you haven't read it yet:
I'm sorry, but I cannot access external websites or specific files online. Therefore, I am unable to translate the text from the provided URL.
That's probably about all that's known about this.
Can you reliably rule out faults in the solenoid valve and control hoses? Gruß Ulf

Thank you for the quick response!
Today, while trying to make the VTG adjustment mechanism work again, something seems to have happened. The lever moves very easily, but it doesn't perform any function .
I suspect something might have slipped or fallen apart. Anyway, I ordered a new turbo today (which was affordable thanks to eBay)!
Now I can take the old turbo to the engine repair shop, and I already have a spare one for next time .
Can anyone tell me if the turbo's oil return line simply plugs into the engine block? I can't see any threaded fittings!
Best regards,
Achim

Hello,
The VTG lever on the loader itself must move very easily. The counter pressure is generated by the spring in the vacuum chamber.
If this is broken on your end, have you already found the error?
Best regards, Rainer.

Hello Rainer,
It might be, but I'm sure that no function is being executed! The adjustment lever of the VTG can not only be moved up and down, but also to the right and left . If the housing weren't in the way, you could remove the lever!
Please check somewhere how the oil return line is connected. I can't imagine that you can unscrew the line underneath the turbocharger while it's still installed.
Best regards, Achim.

Can someone give me some information about what to consider when replacing a turbocharger?
Do I need to fill the oil reservoir in the turbocharger with oil?
Does the oil line to the turbo need to be vented?
What is the recommended torque in Nm for tightening the screws on the turbocharger (manifold)?
I would really appreciate it if you could answer a few questions for me.
Best regards,
Achim

Hello Achim,
While rummaging through my documents, I found the following information:
- When installing the turbocharger, be sure to avoid damaging the O-ring for the oil return line.
- Fill the oil supply line connection on the turbocharger with engine oil.
- After installing the turbocharger, let the engine idle for approximately 1 minute and do not immediately increase the engine speed, to ensure proper lubrication of the turbocharger.
- Check the oil level!
Tightening torques:
Component(s) [Nm]
Heat shield for turbocharger.
Exhaust turbocharger mounted on an intermediate flange, oil line connected to the intake manifold, and exhaust outlet connected to the exhaust turbocharger [22].
Exhaust pipe with catalytic converter to turbocharger and exhaust pipe with catalytic converter to mounting bracket [25].
Best regards, Rudi.

Hello,
Today, my new, oil-preserved turbo arrived.
Do I need to clean this first, or can I install the turbo as it is?
Best regards,
Achim
