Hello, I saw a Bora at the Essen Motor Show last year that participates in the VLN racing series. He had the 2.5-liter 5-cylinder engine from the T4 installed, and it could produce up to 220 kW (approximately 295 horsepower), depending on the turbocharger boost.
I think that with proper tuning, at least 200-220 horsepower should be achievable on the road.
Okay, here's the translation:
"Now my question: Has anyone here ever tried to fit a 2.5L engine into a Golf or Bora? If so, how complicated is it?" It seems like it might fit somehow, at least if you move the battery and windshield washer fluid reservoir somewhere else. Golf IV - ALH - Erstzulassung 9/99

Hello,
VW Motorsport built a 5-cylinder diesel engine for the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1998 (or at least, that's what I believe), after achieving a noteworthy result with a 4-cylinder engine the previous year.
Due to technical problems, the race didn't start, and BMW won with a diesel-powered car (318 tds).
If I remember correctly, they had too much torque, or problems with the drivetrain. Don't dwell on that, it happened a while ago.
Why don't you ask them?
Best regards, Jochen.
