Good morning.
According to the VW workshop, my engine control unit (ECU) is faulty.
I'm now looking for a used one.
My part number is: 038 906 018 BM.
Now I've seen that there are also part numbers like 038 906 018 AJ, etc. for the AHF engine.
Does it work with that?
Thank you for the responses.
Best regards, Tim. |

It might work, but it's not guaranteed! WFS definitely needs to be adjusted.
What leads the workshop to the conclusion that the MSTG is obsolete?
Best regards,
Rudi |

I have no idea.
"Belief" is in the error log.
What are the differences between the control units?
The letters are just called differently.

Belief can help - but not in this case .
What does the printout say?
Software is definitely different. Hardware can be different.
Different versions of WFS (Web Feature Service) may be used.
A single letter... 028 906 021AF vs. 028 906 BF... just one letter;
Despite this, they are completely different control units.
Why did you go to VW by car? |

Is there a list that specifies the versions? |

If you find one, I'd like a copy. |

I was at VW today. They don't know if the others will fit.
My car is running fine, with an *** control unit. It needs to be removed now, because it's for sale.
I bought this specifically for that purpose. With mine, I always get the same error message. I think the boost pressure regulation isn't working correctly. It does run, though. But how about an SDI? |

I saw that there's also the 038906012L part available for the AHF engine.
Has anyone ever tried something like this before?
Would it work with that? The "012L" designation makes me suspicious.
Or does anyone know what the difference is compared to the previous model, 038906018BM?
Best regards, Tim. |

Hi,
I found some IHMO 3 018 spark plugs that are compatible with my car.
My test control unit is the 018 AE (90 hp TDI ALH).

Greetings, Tim.
The 012xx model has completely different connectors. You would need to replace the wiring harness.
Best regards,
