Hello,

I just visited my trusted mechanic because I suspect my car is leaking oil, which is probably leaving unsightly and environmentally damaging stains in parking lots. However, the mechanic discovered that diesel is dripping from the fuel injection pump, and he would like to replace it. He also showed me a wiring harness that is already completely soaked from the dripping diesel and explained that the diesel is seeping into the cables, spreading throughout the car, and could damage the wiring harnesses and electronics. Therefore, he also needs to replace the wiring harnesses. Is this amount of work really necessary?

Thank you in advance for your support!

Oh oh, what's going on? Well, first of all, it's good that you're getting a second opinion.

Here's the translation:

"Give us more information about the car! The ESP (Electronic Stability Program) can be resealed depending on the type, and it's not just some magic trick. Of course, wiring harnesses shouldn't be under diesel fuel, but since most wiring harnesses in the engine compartment tend to run upwards, it's unlikely that fuel would penetrate the car. This kind of thing can also be cleaned."

I drive a Mazda Premacy, manufactured in 2001, with a 1998cc engine and 74kW. The workshop foreman disconnected a plug somewhere higher up and showed me a drop inside the plug, which he believed was diesel that had already seeped in and was working its way through. While I thought it was more likely contact cleaner, he's the professional.

Okay, I don't know anything about Mazda. Find out which manufacturer supplies the pump and what type it is.

Hi,

Quote:
that the diesel would seep into the cables and thus spread throughout the entire car, damaging the cable harnesses and electronics
.
Ouch, what do you do then when it rains? Do you wrap all the cables in cling film and then dry them off and blow them dry? icon_cool.gif

Since diesel has a corrosion-inhibiting effect, it's not a big deal. Of course, the leak in the pump should be fixed.

Best regards, Rainer.

If you have a BOSCH pump, this might be very helpful to you.
http://www.uwereimann.de/poel/esp-hd.htm

We did it on a VW bus: The gasket cost less than 1 EUR, while a new pump costs well over 1000 EUR.

Greetings.

Here's an update on my leaking ESP:

After a long search on the WWW, I came across this forum (http://www.mazda-forum.info/showthread.php?t=6314)), which perfectly describes my problem. I am currently busy finding the replacement part for my pump and getting it to work again.

Thank you for your support!
