Hello everyone,
'Since yesterday, a relay has been clicking, only when driving at extremely slow speeds, or when starting or braking to a complete stop. Because the brake pedal occasionally presses against it during these times - I'll put it politely - I strongly suspect it's the ABS relay.'
Where could it be from?
The brake pads in the front aren't in the best condition anymore, but does that manifest itself in a noticeable way?
The brake fluid is just below the minimum level, could that be the reason?
Is there any plug that's loose?
Oh yeah, the ABS warning light usually doesn't come on during this maneuver; it's only happened once so far.
It all started when it was raining heavily and I was crawling along the highway.
Volkswagen Golf 2 TD, older model; with ABS/EDS and some other features.

Hi! I'm guessing there's a mechanical fault with a wheel sensor, or perhaps debris is stuck to the crankshaft sensor. I've had this problem before. I can give you a more precise answer once I've read the diagnostic report. Best regards, Carsten.

Oh, I almost forgot: It could also be due to the low brake fluid level, but that would more likely cause the ABS warning light to stay on constantly.

The ABS/EDS relay is clicking when driving slowly.
I have tested all the ABS sensors, and the resistance readings at each connector are between 1050 and 1100 ohms.
Okay, so I disconnected the connector from the control unit and took some measurements there. Most of the values are the same, but the sensor labeled with '2' has a value of '1890'!
That's probably my candidate then. I'm just wondering how VW 'counts' the sensors. Four pairs of cables arrive at the control unit, numbered 1 to 4. What position does '2' represent?

Sure, here's the translation:
'For information: '2' refers to the front right position.'
I measured it again, and this time I disconnected the sensors one by one.
Sure, here's the translation:
'Something else:'
Since the sensors are quite expensive, I would be very interested to know if there are any alternatives that could be used instead.
At the large auction house, sensors are available for VW models starting from just €10, but these don't include a cable, like the original G2 sensor. Is it possible to purchase a suitable cable for these sensors? Or are these sensors not compatible in terms of distance/spacing?
