Hello,
I checked the instrument cluster today; I wanted to see how much time I had left before my next long-life oil change.
But I couldn't find where to locate it.
The values for LL were displayed in channels 43, 44, and 45, while channel 48 showed a value of 100.
Channels 40 and 41 only show how long ago I had a service done.
What should a reading of 100 on channel 48 tell me about the oil quality?
Is there a way to see when the next service is theoretically due?
Actually, it's more like approximately, because I could also change my driving style, which would mean more or less wear and tear.
The search didn't show me anything related to that topic.

As far as I know, the low fuel warning light is displayed on the instrument cluster (approximately 5000 km in advance).
In my A4, when the car is stationary, I can display the reset mileage by pressing a button in the FIS (onboard information system). A4 Avant 2,5 tdi 110kw; AFB; BJ2000

No... at least not at Volkswagen.
Audi has a feature in its station wagons that allows for an (inaccurate) prediction. Gruß Bertil

"This feature is indeed not available on older models like the 1J and 3B, but it can be found in the measurement blocks of current models (regardless of whether they are Audi, VW, Seat, or Skoda)."
For example, with models on the Golf 5 platform (MWB 005), my Škoda is currently showing a remaining service interval of 54, which means 5400 km. This indicates that I need to take it for servicing at approximately 23,000 km. That's acceptable for a gasoline engine...

Oh, then my car probably has a bug; it showed "service due in 5100 km" two weeks ago.
300 km later, it now displays "Service"!! A4 Avant 2,5 tdi 110kw; AFB; BJ2000

For example, with models on the Golf 5 platform, specifically those manufactured under production code MWB 005.
...
But probably not for everyone.
'I know some (early) G5 models that show absolutely nothing on MWB005, even though they have LL encoding. The later (newer) ones have always shown something on MWB005 so far.'
Well, then my station wagon probably has a bug.
No!
The warning light for the service interval also depends on the specific car model. Some cars display it starting at 3,000 km, while others start showing it at 5,000 km. This is defined by the vehicle manufacturer. As far as I remember, VW sets it to 3,000 km and Audi to 5,000 km.
This should be clearly stated in every usage guide.

... first of all, thank you for the feedback.
What should a value of 100 in block 48 (oil quality) indicate?

After reviewing several datasets, I have to say that I can't understand this. All of them have "005..." Do you have an example part number for an "early" G5?
scrdel wrote: | | What should a value of 100 in block 48 (oil quality) tell me? |
Channel 48 has nothing to do with oil quality; it refers to the thermal stress on the oil, which is used as a calculated value for the Water Insolubles Value (WIV).

Hello,
"I'm also very interested in this topic. In my car, the instrument cluster calculates it."
Also, there's no visible remaining time, at least not that I can see.
Aber an Hand der Messwerte müsste man das doch selbst berechnen können? DThe individual...
We have the oil level readings. Now we just need to know how the onboard computer processes this information.
calculated.
Or am I wrong about this?
Regards,
Timo.

Hi Timo,
I think you're wrong about that.
The remaining life of the LL interval depends not only on the oil quality.
As far as I know, engine starts also consume oil reserves by diluting it with diesel, which leads to washing out of components and a loss of lubricating properties.
Furthermore, it's unlikely that many people will have access to logarithms for calculating the interval. Or are they? Gruß
