Hi!
Could the "10-cent tuning" not be reversed, so that the engine control unit (ECU) reports too much fuel being used, thereby creating an "ECO" driving mode?
I'm looking to save on fuel costs.

Hello,
You can, for example, adjust the quantity control valve or simulate a higher quantity through engine control unit adaptation. However, the effect is the same as if you were simply using less fuel.
Having a faulty EGR valve and an injection timing that's 2 degrees too early already makes a significant difference.
I will not elaborate further on the topic of AGR and refer you to Ulf's expert article. The start of injection can be adjusted through the engine control unit adaptation.
The greatest fuel savings are likely to be achieved through adapting one's driving style.
Best regards, Rainer.

Hi,
I agree. With my G4 ALH 90PS engine, I once drove 100km on vacation using only 3.8 liters. But it was quite boring .
Here's a different question: If you modify the injection timing channel and advance the start of injection by 2°, surely that also has disadvantages, right? Does it only worsen the exhaust emissions, or does it affect other things as well (performance, noise, lifespan, etc.)?
Will the workshop notice something like that during a regular service? Or possibly the TÜV (German technical inspection agency) during the vehicle inspection (HU) and emissions test (AU)?
Regards,
Eike.

Hello Eike,
Disadvantages of starting injections too early, without claiming to be exhaustive:
- higher NOx emissions.
- Higher peak pressures during combustion.
- Louder running noise.
Best regards, Rainer.

'It seems like the box is extending the injection time.'
The 10-cent tuning advances the injection timing.
CAN YOU INSTALL A 'BOX' AND A '10 CENT-TUNING' SYSTEM TOGETHER????

"Of course, you can advance the injection timing using an RC circuit at the negative feedback (NBF) point. However, the question is, by how much does the injection timing change? While it's possible to find out, without a diagnostic tool, you'll only get rough estimates."
Of course, the maximum limit is determined by the mechanical pre-trigger of the ESP.
Without a thorough understanding of what you're doing and the appropriate measuring equipment, you shouldn't do anything. And your question indicates that you don't know what you're doing.
Please, no more "what if" questions. Instead, learn how your injection equipment works. All the information you need is already available here.
Best regards, Rainer.

Since when has 10-cent tuning been advancing the injection timing?
By tuning, you only increase the fuel injection amount, which is the principle behind power boxes.
Sure, you can combine those things, and if your TDI is still running, you'll have a fantastic steam-powered vehicle.

Okay, according to the '10-cent tuning' described here, see the last paragraph before the SDI section!!
'Earlier injection start.'
It describes how to advance the start of the injection process in parallel with cables 1 and 2.
or am I mistaken?
Now, a question specifically about this:
The power box is connected to all the cables (the entire connector before the ESP).
Why aren't there any fuel injectors yet that can both simulate a lack of fuel and also advance the fuel injection timing?
Is it possible to combine the described 10-cent tunings (multiple injection based on diesel temperature, simulating low boost pressure, and advanced injection timing)?
If you were to adjust everything 'within limits,' taking a little from each area, wouldn't that be a perfectly balanced tuning measure?
Sure, here is the translation of the text from German to English:
'Hello,'
And have a fun, crafty weekend!

OK OK, as stated in the article, I concede. For me, these measures go beyond the usual '10 cent tuning,' it's more like 'extended 10 cent tuning.' Before the article was published, the forum had already discussed increasing the fuel injection volume, and that's all I remember.

Okay, I haven't adjusted the injection timing yet. If I wanted to, I would only do it using VAG-Com or a similar tool through adaptation.
I slightly increased the boost pressure by replacing an SMD resistor in the engine control unit (ECU), which resulted in a lower measured pressure from the pressure sensor (in my ECU). This effectively eliminated the 'russeting' (likely referring to a specific sound or issue) when the tuning is activated.
But be aware: as described in the article, safe operation is not possible with every type of gas turbine.
Best regards,
René K.

Okay, of course I'll check my settings according to the information in the article beforehand!
If necessary, install a different pressure sensor, for example, one that measures up to 2.0 bar!
If you're going to work on the STG (Steuergerät - control unit), you have to open it, and in doing so, you'll destroy the VW seal, right?
Can I somehow integrate that into the cable using the charging pressure?
or should I check something directly on the pressure sensor?

Hello,
Just read through the old forum posts on those topics!
I don't want to have to repeat everything constantly just because someone is too lazy to check.
Rainer.
