Unfortunately, my mirror glasses are no longer heating up. I couldn't immediately find a non-destructive method to remove the mirror glass from the frame.
How are they attached? Is it easier to access the mounting points from the side of the door where they are fastened, or do I have to completely remove the mirrors first?
'When the side mirrors on my G3 needed to be replaced, the mechanic pried them off with his fingers. I tried it myself at home afterwards, but it requires some force and courage. Of course, I don't know if it's that easy on an A3.'
Okay, thank you. I've now removed the right lens. Arranged in a ring on a plastic carrier with a diameter of approximately 6 cm are 8 plastic protrusions.
Only 2 of them broke off, and that was enough to determine that the mirror glass is not heated .
It's strange that they only started running recently, well, I haven't cleaned them in a long time .
According to my opinion, they are just clipped in. So, put on gloves and find something to use as a lever (like a small ruler or similar), then pry them apart once from the bottom between the glass and the casing, and once from the top.
Carefully detach the connector pins of the mirror glass from the cables. I only had to replace a mirror housing. Unfortunately, the contact on the mirror broke off due to corrosion. The new glass was quite expensive.
