Good evening...

Okay, here's another oil thread, I'm sorry... I've read all the oil threads and I understand less than ever before.

I'm only seeing mentions of HTHS (High Temperature High Shear), camshaft damage, and pump-nozzle issues there.

I have a VP TDI ALH with Longlife QG1 oil, with a flexible interval of 15,000 to 50,000 km (timing belt 150,000 km icon_eek.gif icon_cool.gif), and NO spark plugs.

The instruction manual states VW 506.00, but it seems that this specification is no longer available. In the hardware store, I can only find 507.00, which is "backward compatible" with both 506.00 and 506.01.

What is the difference between 506.00 and 506.01, and is the 507.00 now worse for my LL fuel distributor pump TDI than the 506.00, which is no longer available?

Is 5W-30 507.00 now okay, or is there something better that can be done for it?

In brief:
"The 50600 is a fully synthetic oil. The LL 3 is a 5W30 high-quality oil, but it's not fully synthetic and has approval for use with diesel particulate filters (DPF)."

I just sold the remaining 20 liters of LL 2 50600, and here's what's still available:

And what's the best thing to put in now icon_question.gif? Is 507.00, because of the DPF approval (less sulfur, etc.), really worse in terms of wear protection?

I don't know what's best for you.
I use 5W-40 PD oil in my car because it's easier for me to change the oil more frequently, and it doesn't cost significantly more. Additionally, this allows the engine to get rid of dissolved soot and the old oil filter insert more often.
For people who would have to pay a high price for oil changes or drive a lot, requiring them to change the oil twice a year, the LL3 (Longlife 3) is recommended. Only engines with 5-cylinder configurations use LL2. Do not use 0W30; use 50600 instead.

I wouldn't use oils from hardware stores, regardless of the brand. I find it questionable how the quality can be good at that price point.
