This is achieved through newly developed multi-grade synthetic lubricants.
VW standards 503 00 and 506 00. These must be used in the LongLife service.

Here are some additional benefits of LongLife service oil:
lower fuel consumption,
higher thermal stability of the oil.
better cleaning properties and reduced wear.

Technical implementation:

The calculation of the LongLife service intervals is performed by the onboard computer and is displayed in the instrument cluster.

Here's the translation:

These are the following:
- Continuous determination of the remaining service life within the control unit.
- Display showing the remaining distance of 3,000 km before the next service.
- Displaying the service request.
- Determining the oil temperature.
For security purposes:
- Dynamic determination of the oil level using an engine oil level sensor, with a warning displayed when the level is too low.
low oil level
- Brake pad wear indicator (warning indicator for wear limit).
- Maintenance-free lead-calcium battery, except for the Passat!

Engine oil specification for long-life service:

To be able to use extended service intervals, it is absolutely necessary to use the newly developed engine oil specifically designed for extended service.
For gasoline engines, please use multi-grade engine oils that meet the VW specification 503 00. For diesel engines, use multi-grade engine oils that meet the VW specification 506 00.

Attention:

"LongLife Service" is only available for vehicles that have the PR number listed on the vehicle's data carrier. labeled as QG1.
The LongLife engine oil (VW specifications 503 00 and 506 00) is intended for use only in engines of vehicles that are equipped with the part number... QG1 marked items need to be filled.

- In cases of extremely uneconomical driving or extreme operating conditions, the shortest maintenance interval is 15,000 km or one year.

1) Short-distance operation, high proportion of cold starts.
2) Frequent instances of driving at full throttle.
3) Frequent riding on inclines.
4) High percentage of vehicles towing trailers.
And it's precisely the combination of 3) and 4) that represents an extreme operating condition!
Tschüss
