I was having trouble starting my car.

He is currently at AMAG, which is VAG in Germany... for the past 10 days.

During the starting attempts, the 95Ah and 110Ah batteries were drained.
I received my list of error codes today.

When I saw that looooooong list, I almost fainted... By the way, "the big guy" still doesn't want to.

The bill is now 750 CHF PLUS 180 CHF for towing costs!

Here is the error code:

It's all because my car wouldn't start...

Does anyone have any advice?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?

I think that many of the errors were caused by the undervoltage.
But the repair shop still hasn't made any progress. AFTER 10 DAYS!!!!!

Hello, my condolences.
"Just to preface, I'm not a diagnostic expert."
der einzige Fehler der mir plausibel scheint, ist der Beseitigte : Pos. Sensor NW.
All the others can be caused by undervoltage and should be deleted. Then, start fresh. Why not support the battery if it's been draining for a long time?

I would like to find a new way to express what has been reviewed and what is planned to be done.
It shouldn't give the impression that you have a plan to have a friend tow the car to a Bosch service center or a workshop you trust.
Definitely follow up again, preferably in person, and ask to see samples or take some with you.
No fuel at the nozzles?

I suspect there's insufficient pressure in the rail... I'll check the MWB (Main Water Booster), start it, and read the pressure.
The NW sensor is not strictly required for startup, according to my list.
It only stops working or turns off if the crankshaft (g28) fails.

Hi everyone,

The problem is that I haven't needed a workshop until now. I picked up the A 8 on February 6th, and it was already in the workshop on February 9th, and it's still there today.

Regarding the skills of the mechanics, I completely fail to understand. Whenever I ask about something specific and seek advice from online forums, I always get a vague and unhelpful response from the workshop. I have another workshop I could try, but it would also take two weeks because they are chronically understaffed.

Here are some posts from other forums where I participate...

Sorry, the tech talk is all jargon and won't help you.
Question: Did you buy it there and then return it a few days later?
Or where else does it say "No guarantee"?

I bought the car from a dealer, and although it didn't come with a warranty, he is covering the repair costs. I don't want to return it because if I had wanted to, I wouldn't have bought it in the first place...

My main problem is: I REALLY want to get my car back!

Taxes paid, insurance paid, but only for 3 days of driving! Well, that costs 1000 CHF. For that price, I could drive a Ferrari for a whole day!

Hello!

Huh? I don't understand that right now...

Hold on a minute, let's not get ahead of ourselves. We're just here to "help" you, and we're not responsible for you buying the car, nor for the fact that it's now in the repair shop!

Then fix it yourself and make it functional again, if you know better. icon_rolleyes.gif

You have already received two well-founded and good pieces of advice.
Why are you ignoring them or refusing to address this?

I'm not familiar with Swiss law and regulations, but "where I'm from," the seller would initially have three attempts to fix the issue. Furthermore, a seller cannot and is not allowed to exclude the warranty (or rather, the legal guarantee)! They can reduce it from the legally mandated 2 years to 1 year. It cannot be completely excluded if it can be proven that the seller is engaged in commercial sales.

Therefore:
Either tell your mechanic that you're taking the car somewhere else, or let them continue working on it.

We can't fix it from here, sorry.

Despite everything, best regards from Munich! icon_wink.gif

Hi, I'm not dismissing anything or implying that I know better!

@ DieselBear:

You should read the sentences in the correct context because fragments like the ones you marked with quotes don't make sense on their own.

CONTEXT:
Partial question: Did you buy it there and then return it a few days later?

My response to that:
I bought the car from a dealer, and although it didn't come with a warranty, he is covering the repair costs. I don't want to return it because if I had wanted to, I wouldn't have bought it in the first place...

It's possible that you misread something or misunderstood something.

I received an error code and I looked up what it means.

Okay, and now we come to the point:

The workshop should be a specialized workshop for Audi, VW, and Skoda vehicles.

Is it not possible to diagnose the problem and fix it within 10 days?!?!?

I forwarded the advice, which stated there were more than two, along with the links from the other forum, to the workshop. What am I supposed to do? I have other things to take care of. That's why I'm taking the car to someone who should know what they're doing.

But 10 days is a bit long!

Every time I call the workshop or go there in person, I always get the same answer: "We don't know what's wrong yet." Great, what am I supposed to do?!?!?

And that strange attempt at flirting, or the suggestion to do it yourself, was unnecessary!

Okay. Misunderstandings happen sometimes. I hope it's now clear.

Please read the other two threads; maybe then you'll understand why I'm so annoyed.
I'm not blaming anyone, because I understand that you can't change the situation, but perhaps you can help me avoid unnecessary repair costs.

I consider myself a skilled worker as well. I also need to be able to estimate how long a job might take and what needs to be done. That's all I expect from a mechanic (mechatronics technician) as well.

They want 200 CHF/hour! You'd expect some progress for that, and not have them say after 10 days, "Well, um, we're not sure what's going on, and we haven't made any progress yet..."

Hi,

It's actually quite simple:
- Either the workshop simply doesn't have the time to deal with the problem,
- or you are incapable, because no one has been able to find anything after 10 days of searching. The possibilities for refusing to start are quite limited.

In both cases, it would probably be better to have someone else take care of the car if you need it and don't want to pay for ongoing costs for nothing.

Best regards, Rainer.
