Hi.

Yesterday, I experienced the benefits of the adaptive brake lights on a current 5-series BMW:
He initially intended to cross the traffic light, but then he decided to do something else.
With slightly harder braking, the (actual) rear fog lights also activated.

Why doesn't the Passat (and the other VWs with LED taillights) do that?

The rings of the taillights would be perfect for that.
- they already exist.
- They'll be dimmed anyway.
- they are even optimally positioned from a psycho-visual perspective to make the brake lights appear "larger".

That would be one more if statement... He can also activate the hazard lights at 7 m/s².

Why can't you download updates (like with a TomTom) icon_smile.gif?

Audi?

"Those are the ones who managed to design a car where you can barely see the brake lights."
The current A4 (at least as an Avant) has such terrible rear lights: The illumination is spotty, like something from Korea, and the contrast between the tail light and the brake light is awful!

I know of three different indicator options when the brake assist is activated: enlarged brake lights like those on BMWs, flashing brake lights on current Opel models, or the hazard lights being activated, as is the case with my Peugeot.

From a signaling perspective, I think the flashing solution is the best. Whether it's with flashing brake lights or with the hazard lights, it's pretty much the same!

I think the BMW's brakes engage much earlier than the hazard lights.
"6 or 7 m/s² is quite a significant acceleration, and the BMW didn't seem to achieve that."

Furthermore, it could be combined in a way: first, just the brake lights would activate, and then, if the braking becomes more intense, the hazard lights would also turn on.

It could be done! One option would be to simply increase the size of the brake light when a firmer pedal pressure is applied, without any intervention from brake assist systems. And in the event of a detected emergency braking situation (including the activation of the brake assist system = increased brake pressure), the brake light could quickly flash repeatedly. I'm thinking of a flashing frequency that's roughly double that of the normal hazard lights. This would significantly increase the attention-grabbing effect.

I think I'm going to figure out soon what triggers my "red flags."

ESP acceleration sensors logging, buckle the laptop in, and then full throttle icon_wink.gif.

Yesterday, I was driving in front of an A5, which (recently?) had LED lights.

Yesterday, I was searching as usual, but unfortunately, I didn't find anything. However, it seemed like Audi was working on something related to a faulty sensor. Additionally, there were some other features, like making the lights dim slightly during acceleration and brighten/increase in intensity the more you brake. I thought those features would finally be implemented.

"Dirt sensor" --> Does that trigger a message like "Please wash the vehicle?" Are you thinking of a pressure sensor?

Yes, escape mode:
If I accelerate too aggressively, the lights completely turn off, and I only rely on the radar of the ACC icon_wink.gif.

I finally want the source code for the comfort and body control units... icon_wink.gif

According to the latest A4 price lists, the Xenon A4 models now come with LED taillights, just like the A6 has had for a long time.

Huh?

Why didn't the Passat turn on its hazard lights during that one braking event (which was, admittedly, unexpectedly sudden)?

Or does the delay need to be longer, such as the 2-second ABS warning light activation criterion?

emergency braking (acceleration > 7 m/s², duration > 700 ms) or

ABS activation longer than 2 seconds.

and of course, the function must be enabled...

Subjectively, the blinking on my Peugeot starts much earlier. During the driving safety training, I was thrown around in it like a merry-go-round at a harvest festival.

Even during normal driving, it often activates unexpectedly. Sometimes, all it takes is the ABS engaging on a wet road. And, in my opinion, the ABS is constantly involved in the driving process. No, my Peugeot doesn't have ESP... icon_wink.gif

Hmm, no ESP?
Then it definitely can't be a "Bremsassi."

Because it feels like ABS is kicking in when you brake... you can feel it pulsating.

Yes! It already has brake assist - just not ESP. icon_wink.gif That was only available as an optional extra, which almost no one ever selected and ordered with a small car.
