Hello everyone,
I'm an avid reader of this forum and have received a lot of helpful information. I'd like to share a quick success story. On my Passat, with 127,000 km on the odometer, I had the well-known rattling noise in the front axle when driving over bumps. After thoroughly inspecting all the steering components, struts, and tie rods, I found that the upper ball joint on the right tie rod was worn out. I only replaced that one tie rod (for €24).
'According to VAG, the rod with ball joints has been replaced with one using fixed rubber bushings and can be used without any problems. I have done this, and the clunking noises are gone.'
Is that correct regarding the replacement?
Best regards,
Kradmelder.
