Golf 1J Repair: Rear Hatch Lock Problems (Solution)

Electric malfunction in the rear trunk lid lock, the trunk light is always on, occasional alarm triggering.

Cause:
Corrosion in the connector or microswitch of the rear lid lock can cause electrical malfunctions, such as the alarm system triggering or the trunk light not working properly. This corrosion is caused by cleaning fluid from the car wash that can enter the lock through a broken connector on the rear windshield washer nozzle or through the wiper motor.

Solution:
In cases of electrical malfunctions in the rear lid lock, caused by corrosion on the connector of the lock, the rear windshield washer system should be checked for leaks.
