Retrofit DPF (HJS brand), and engine oil with/without additives. Ash value

Hello, I drive a Passat 3 BG AVF with an aftermarket HJS cork (city filter) and I'm wondering, as my next oil change is coming up, whether I should consider the installed cork when choosing the engine oil?

I'm currently (and plan to continue) using Fuchs Titan Super Syn 5W-40 Plus without an oil level sensor (with fixed 15,000-mile intervals). VW itself specifies oils meeting the 507.00 standard for vehicles that come with factory-installed oil level sensors. I seem to recall that Aschewert, or perhaps HJS, mentioned that it might not be necessary.


Can anyone help me with something here?
I would like to continue using oils without WIV.

I'm doing the same thing as you! According to HJS, the type of oil doesn't matter because the filter, unlike its counterparts from the factory, is distinguished by its significantly different operating principle and mesh size.

The Passat in the signature has had the HJS filter installed since 50,000 km. I have also stuck with the 5W40 50501 oil. No problems whatsoever.

No, apparently it's not necessary for aftermarket DPF systems that are designed to be installed without a closed exhaust system.

Please note: your Fuchs Titan Super Syn 5W40 Plus is a discontinued product. "Fuchs no longer manufactures it. 505.01 oils containing sulfur have become very rare."
Why not use a 505.01 in C3? For example. Catrol Turbo Diesel 5W-40
Furthermore, I'm not sure because section 507.00 has exceptions regarding backward compatibility. Sometimes, it seems like 505.01 is the better oil...
