Good evening everyone,
I'm new here and would like to ask a question for those with more experience:
I have a 1999 model, A4 B5, 2.5 TDI.
MKB:AFB GKB:EFR
This car was fitted with a 2004 AT engine with 149,000 km, which was replaced due to a major engine failure, thanks to the camshaft problem. This engine has B-head cylinder heads, which feature roller followers. However, these 2 camshafts show extreme pitting (I now have 250,000 km according to the odometer, so approximately 100,000 km of engine life). Since a timing belt replacement is due soon (which I will do myself), I wanted to ask what the part numbers for the "new" camshafts (from 10/2005) are, as I would like to replace them before my vacation (2 x 1100 km).
Does the pitting also occur, as has been frequently discussed regarding "soft" hydros in winch-lever AFBs? Or is there a different quality issue with the type of heads?
