Recently, I had the pleasure of replacing the front springs on an older E-Class Mercedes.
Unfortunately, my coil springs didn't fit... grumble.
Okay, I'll start by removing the shock absorber.
I then took a long, strong threaded rod, two sturdy supports, heavy-duty nuts, and compressed the new spring.
Secure the feather with some strong ties and complete the feather leg.
Installed, added weight, and cut and removed the straps.
Okay, it's installed, working, and therefore the task is complete.
But how do professional companies actually do it?
My coil spring compressors don't fit inside the strut, and they also don't fit because of the taper of the spring.
Something like that already looks quite decent.

I can hardly imagine someone at Daimler being at a workbench, tightening things together with a ratchet.
How do professional workshops do it?
Best regards, Frank.

Something similar (an inner spring compressor) is available for Mercedes-Benz vehicles from various manufacturers in the "professional" category (e.g., Klann). LG, Onkel BM

Subject: Internal spring expander.
I've already covered that topic.
I'm tightening the spring, and how do I get the shock absorber in after that?
Are there any brackets or holders that can secure the spring in place, which I can then remove later?
Hint: I'm talking about the front springs...
Best regards, Frank.

While we primarily focus on VAG vehicles here, including a model designation like, for example, W124, or W210, W211, etc., for the "older E-Class" would be helpful. LG, Onkel BM

Okay, but I'm generally asking how this is handled in a workshop setting.
The issue with the acute care vehicle was resolved through a custom-built solution.
Best regards, Frank.

With the right spring compressor, of course.
Professional-grade wrenches are usually impact-wrench resistant. LG, Onkel BM

Sorry, but I would have bet my bottom dollar that a specialized workshop would...
The device may use hydraulics to compress the new spring.
and then secured with brackets or something similar.
So, they only cook with water.
If there's no better or alternative idea, I guess I'll have to dig deep into my pockets...
Best regards, Frank.

We're doing it with the inner spring compressor; it works great, because there's a hole specifically designed for that purpose, located in the middle of the spring on the lower control arm . I think you're talking behind my back.
I'm starting from the beginning.
I have this nagging feeling that there must be something more to it than just pressing a spring together with a threaded rod.
Hydraulically, it should be faster and quieter.
Best regards, Frank.
