Hello, dear screw community
There, I went to VAG last week and had the air conditioning system serviced.
With dismay, I had to realize today that on the aluminum can, on the left, there is apparently a glowing green substance coming out in bubbles.
That seems to be refrigerant.
Apparently, 60% of the refrigerant was missing during the service.
Shouldn't they actually be doing a pressure test?
Could it be that the brothers at VW have overfilled the system, and now there is too much pressure?
I really need information, because I know these guys and they will probably try to tell me something different tomorrow, just to avoid having to take responsibility for the damage.
Thank you already. |

Hello,
Bright green substance indicates a filled leak detection agent
What do you want to accuse the garage of having noticed that there wasn't enough coolant and that they had cautiously filled in a leak detection agent?
However, if something comes out of the dryer and exactly this one was replaced as part of the maintenance, it should be sealed and refilled free of charge.

I thought they sprayed it on the outside.
That means the leak detection agent will be filled in. I meant that the green liquid is the refrigerant itself.
I'm afraid I have no idea.
D.h. also, the dryer needs to be sealed. The leak detection fluid is coming out at the upper bracket. There is a 6mm Allen screw attached.
I
I believe that the entire chimney needs to be brought into service, the dryer needs to be replaced, the whole thing needs to be sealed, refilled, and reassembled.
What will this likely mean financially?
But thank you very much for the quick help. |

Hello, yes, that's right, the leak detection agent is filled in. Because it fluoresces, the leak can be found using a UV lamp (black light), as the leaked substance will then glow. (Not every leak is as large as yours ) Gruss Ralf

So, therefore, your dryer was not replaced as part of your climate service?
Since your climate is already over 3 years old and has been leaking for a long time, it might be a good idea to replace the old dryer as well.
Unfortunately, I cannot give you an exact figure for the costs; however, the range should be between 100 and 200 euros.
