Hello dear community,
I am a proponent of mechanics, but now I want to work with my vehicle electronics. Specifically, this is a VW Touran (model year 2005) 2.0 16V TDI. I want to install additional gauges for oil temperature and boost pressure. However, I do not want a sporty-looking tuning solution, such as a... Instead of Raid HP, but an original VW solution.
I believe I have also found this: VW also offers optional additional instruments for oil temperature and boost pressure on the Beetle and the Scirocco, at the customer's request. Part number would be: 5C5 919 527B
Furthermore, I found a retrofit plan for these VW gauges on gute-fahrt.de. For this, an adapter cable from Kufatec is still required. This is connected to the ignition positive and the permanent positive, and the other two wires are connected to the motor CAN-BUS High and Low .
My hope is that the instruments will also work in my Touran. However, I am relatively optimistic, as I don't believe that VW has made so many changes to the Touran facelift regarding the electrical system. But, what's the point of hoping? That's the only option: Trial and Error.
My question to you: Where can I find the CAN-BUS high and low wires?
In the schematic, it states: The drive CAN high is frequently found on pin 16 (orange-black) of the diagnostic gateway, and the drive CAN low is found on pin 6 (orange-brown).
According to VW's self-study program, the color of the cables is already correct, but it also does not specify where the cables are located.
My other question: Should I simply plug the adapter cables into the CAN-BUS HIGH and LOW pins, or should I slightly damage the insulation of the two cables and solder the adapter cables in between?
I hope you can help me. I know there are very capable people
Best regards,
Martin
