Hello everyone,
More and more often, I'm reading that the Volkswagen Group no longer uses G13 coolant because, supposedly, it causes damage over time due to corrosion in the heat exchanger and radiator. A friend of mine who helped develop VW engines pointed this out to me and also asked a simple question: Does it sometimes smell like antifreeze coming from the engine compartment?
And I have to say, unfortunately yes, even though nothing is leaking.
Therefore, VW only uses G12evo in new vehicles. However, the G13 is not replaced during a service. That's why I wanted to do it myself. While some people recommend using the older method of fully heating up the engine and bringing it to operating temperature, the workshop manual for the Golf 7 1.6 TDI states that it should be done via diagnostics. In VCDS, there is an option called "Bleed cooling system." Has anyone here already done this?
