Hello everyone, has anyone ever done this conversion before? Does it probably require a lot of tinkering, or is it truly plug and play?

Hello,
What you're planning to do won't work without some adjustments.
Let's take the Passat 3C as an example.
There's the 8V BMP engine with a DPF (Diesel Particulate Filter), and the 16V BKP engine without a DPF, only with a catalytic converter. All particulate filter (DPF) systems installed at the factory are designed as closed systems and are therefore monitored by various sensors.

If you're now swapping your DPF for the catalytic converter, and it fits mechanically, you'll be missing all the sensors, and the engine control unit will immediately go into limp mode.

I will, of course, have that removed during a chip tuning process. icon_wink.gif
Sure, here's the translation:

"By the way, it's an A4 B7."

Then you know everything you need to do.

The proposed modification will inevitably result in the vehicle's operating permit being revoked, and we assume that it will never be used on public roads again afterward.

Okay, it's done, and it seems to be working fine so far without any issues.
He definitely has the temperature sensors before and after the particulate filter, and the oxygen sensor, stored in the error memory.
I haven't really thought about the oxygen sensor before. Is it just for monitoring the residual oxygen, or does it also control the air-fuel mixture? The 16V model doesn't have one, and apparently doesn't need it, which must have something to do with the particulate filter.
