VW Phaeton 3.0 TDI Engine: CARA Code Details

Hello fellow DIY enthusiasts,
Two weeks ago, my high-pressure pump failed, "eating" itself and leaving debris throughout the entire system.

I've replaced everything that needs to be replaced, except for the high-pressure pump.
The crankshaft and the right camshaft are aligned to TDC, but where should I align the high-pressure pump?

Okay, maybe I didn't explain myself clearly. I have a tool for aligning the high-pressure pump. I bought a used pump, but how do I know when the engine is at top dead center (TDC) and how the used pump needs to be positioned? The alignment tool engages with the adapter plate on the engine.

Before removing the old pump, simply check how it's positioned relative to the alignment tool and mark it with a marker.
Mark first, then unscrew.

It's definitely worth getting the corresponding repair manual from Erwin.
