Hello,

I built a tabletop setup for my tachometer diagnostics. Unfortunately, the actuator diagnosis is not working.

Here's the translation:

"This is about the AI (air conditioning) systems of a pre-facelift A3 8L model."

Do you have any ideas about what might be causing this?

Greetings.

Andi.

Hi,

Control unit information?
Does the OBD system generally work?

Best regards, Rainer.

These include, among other things. AI systems with part numbers 8L0 919 880 D, 8L0 919 860 A/e, etc.

Generally, the OBD system functions correctly. When the control units are installed in the vehicle, the actuator diagnostics work. However, they do not function in a desk-based testing environment. I had the idea that, for example, there might be voltage present at terminal 61, which would cause the control unit to believe that the motor is running.

"I'm also having another problem with an ECU from a facelift A3, manufactured in 2002 and equipped with a CAN bus. I can't read it out at all on the diagnostic bench. The K-line is connected to a different pin on the instrument cluster, even though it's also a CAN system, and I've also connected the two CAN lines to the OBD connector, but so far without success." For the OBD system, shouldn't the K-line be sufficient, or am I mistaken?

Hi,

Okay, so I don't have the pin assignments for all combination instrument panels from the last 20 years memorized. icon_smile.gif
If diagnostics are being automated with AI, then the actuator test should also work. Is the button actually available, or is it grayed out?
If the option is grayed out, the control unit does not offer that function.

Otherwise, I would say it's worth a try to say "ignition on."

Best regards,
