Tiguan 2020 - Discover Media without DAB... how is it set up?

I bought a used 2020 Tiguan with various features, but strangely, this not-exactly-cheap vehicle lacks DAB radio reception .

"Just for fun," I was recently messing around with the coding (using a coding assistant) on my car. Further down, there were fields related to DAB, and I tried setting the band to "Europe." After restarting, I was actually able to select the band from FM to DAB, and surprisingly, the interface looked exactly like what you'd expect from a DAB system. Unfortunately, I couldn't control anything else, and the radio displayed an error message saying "incorrectly coded." According to that, I've restored the old encoding.

Now, the question is how DAB is implemented in the device for the models that are delivered with DAB functionality.
I can't shake the feeling that it's just "software," and that the hardware could probably do it now too.

There are add-on modules available that you can attach to the back and which supposedly display information on the screen; they cost almost 400 euros. What bothers me the most is that you also need a windshield antenna.

I don't like it.

That's why I want to find the most direct way to receive DAB signals.

A radio with DAB typically has different receiver electronics.
Feedback on which radio you chose and any related experiences, including the integration process into the vehicle, is very welcome.
