Hey everyone!

I've now decided to build my own adapter so that my constant 'searching for the needle in a haystack' at night new_shocked.gif (hopefully) comes to an end.

I have a GIII model year 1994 with a 1Z engine.

'Does anyone have any experience with whether the 'enhanced standard circuit' will work effectively? I mean, will it work with my car specifically, or are there generally any compatibility issues between adapter types and TDI engines?'

Also, I also need the parts. I can get the electrical components at CONRAD around the corner, but where can I get the VAG connector (the wide one, the ODB? icon_redface.gif)?

Jaja, viele Fragen! Thank you in advance!

Andreas.

Hello,

You don't necessarily need the OBD connector. A few crimped cable ends will also work. If you absolutely want one, check eBay; I believe they are sometimes auctioned off for around 15 euros.
Regarding the other questions, I can't provide any reliable information.

Best regards,
Albrecht.

Hi Andreas,

If you're referring to version 2.4, it generally runs quite reliably based on previous experiences, provided that the PC and software configuration are compatible.

However, some 1Z models can be problematic, and this issue may not be resolved by using a different adapter (or only in rare, fortunate cases). A more reliable solution seems to be adjusting the VAGCOM settings -> Diagnostics, section "VAGCOM Bugs."

"A '1Z-favorite adapter' hasn't emerged yet, as far as I know."
