AUY Sharan: Power Loss - Troubleshooting Guide

Hey everyone!
(Volkswagen Sharan, 115 hp, engine code AUY)
I've been experiencing the following problem for a few weeks now:

Sudden power loss for approximately 1 second; I have observed this at different engine speeds.
Error code: 18080 - Interruption or short circuit at the radiator fan.

Is there a connection between the two?
The car was recently at the repair shop for air conditioning issues.

The error occurs sporadically, usually when accelerating, but mostly on the highway.
It has also happened occasionally during normal driving.

It looks like the engine is about to stall, and then there's a puff of black smoke from the back.
and then it continues running without any problems.

They replaced the relay for the cooling fan and the control unit (supposedly).

'My old TDI with 90 horsepower had the same issue, but I don't know what caused it, so I just sold it as is.'

No, the rest works fine!

I was at the Volkswagen dealership today, and they checked the car's error memory, but didn't find any errors.
Although I'm absolutely sure it was in there yesterday.
After that, I used my VAG-COM to check for error codes, but there were none.

The error memory cannot clear itself automatically, can it?

The error code in the memory will be cleared if it no longer appears after a certain number of starts.

You mentioned that the workshop replaced a control unit. Do you still have the VAG part number for it (it should be on the invoice)?

Unfortunately, I don't have a receipt for the repair.

After all the trouble I had with the car, they fixed it for me free of charge as a gesture of goodwill.

Could the air conditioning have something to do with the shaking/vibration?
