Hi everyone,

I just wanted to provide a brief report on the topic.
Audi Car Life Plus - Warranty Insurance - for the first year.

Vehicle: A4 B5 Avant, TDI AFB engine, Quattro all-wheel drive, Tiptronic transmission, currently 195,000 km, first registration date 6/99.
Please provide the text you would like me to translate from German to English.
After experiencing an engine failure about 14 months ago, which Audi repaired free of charge (ugh), I asked my local mechanic about extended warranty insurance. They knew nothing about it, and I was quite annoyed.

...until I went to a competitor and saw that they offered Audi CarLife plus. And since I only had 148,500 km on the odometer at the time (which is still quite a lot), I barely managed to qualify for it.

In the meantime, quite a few parts have been replaced (e.g., FIS display, radiator, fan coupling, fan screw, hood insulation mat, rear wiper motor, mass airflow sensor, etc.), and I'm actually quite happy about it.

Now my insurance is about to expire, and I'm trying to get it renewed... the terms and conditions seem very strange. They advertise a 'yearly option' to renew the insurance, but it seems that this only applies if you take out the insurance within the first 18 months after the initial purchase.

So far, no workshop here has been able to give me a definitive answer.

It just rang - it works.

-> Nobody knows why, but I'm just glad about it for now.

Regards,
Felix.

P.S. Now that I know the repair costs for the engine and transmission, I'm going to do it right away... you're out.

I don't have the Carlife myself, but according to other people, the annual renewal is possible. The person who told me this even bought their car as a used car.
Apparently, the reputation of the dealer with Volkswagen is once again a crucial factor.
Or, how the retailer goes the extra mile for its customers.

What exactly does the Carlife plus include?
Does the mobility guarantee still apply when you take your car in for an inspection?
Are there any requirements for that?

Hi,

As I see it, for something like that old, unreliable AFB motor, insurance is definitely recommended.

Best regards, Rainer.

1. I also have the impression that it's something to be grateful for to have a good workshop.

'I believe that almost everything is covered up to 150,000 km / 6 years (excluding wear and tear items such as bearings, fluids, seals, glass, headlights, interior trim), and after that, only components are covered (meaning things like the drivetrain, wheel suspension, axles, transmission, engine electronics, ignition system, direct attachments to the engine, etc.).'

You will pay 10% of the costs yourself, with a minimum of 50 EUR and a maximum of 250 EUR, in addition to the fluids. icon_wink.gif So far, my workshop has always calculated this incorrectly, and I have only ever paid 50 EUR.

'Catch: If the problem occurs within a 50 km radius of the workshop where you purchased your insurance, you also have to go there. However, since I don't want to do that, I always purchase my insurance from a company located somewhere I rarely go. That way, I can choose the workshop myself (because I've had so many bad experiences here and don't want to be tied to a specific workshop).'

Well, I've been happy with it so far, and I don't want to change that. Since I don't really value the car much more than a piece of wood, its 'deal-breaker' criterion for whether it stays with me or not is simply my own peace of mind.

Hi!

It's me again icon_wink.gif), rather icon_sad.gif.

After my fuel injector failed (at just under 200,000 km, and was replaced without issue by CarLife), now, as I was driving out of the workshop (I need to think about whether that should actually be the workshop's responsibility), the turbocharger pressure sensor also failed, and the car is now crawling along at 40 km/h on the test drive...

Questions:

1. Does the turbocharger pressure sensor also fall under the CarLife insurance coverage? Even with such high mileage. In my opinion, it belongs to the 'engine electronics' or 'engine assembly' category.

'So, what about the workshop? Are they allowed to just break my car? I mean, the part was still working when I brought it in... The car was there for a whole week, and several things were done (like the TÜV inspection, service, fuel injector replacement, car wash, etc.), and on the last day, they called me and said, 'We're sorry, but when we tried to take it for a test drive, it just wouldn't move. It wouldn't start. We're not sure what's wrong.' Is something like that just normal wear and tear?'

3. Key specifications: Vehicle first registration 6/99, engine code QV6tdi Qtip, 210,000 km mileage, engine mileage 80,000 km.

Does anyone have any idea how I should handle this? I just told them to put the old parts in the trunk, just to be on the safe side.

Regards,
Felix.
