Hello everyone!
I have an A6 here with a lit airbag warning light.
According to VCDS:
01221 Crash sensor, side airbag, driver's side (G179)
37-00 Defect.
01221 Crash sensor, side airbag, driver's side (G179)
36-10 Intermittent interruption.
Has anyone ever experienced this before?
How should I proceed?
Thank you in advance, Julik.

Hello,
that could mean:
- Service interruption.
- Open connection in the wiring harness to the crash sensor (driver's side).
- Defective crash sensor.
- Airbag control unit - J234 - defective.
Since the error occurs sporadically, I suspect there might be issues with the cables or connectors. Tschüss

Hello Julik,
I'm familiar with that problem, I had it with my A6 2.4 from the year 1997.
The cause in my case was a leaky weld seam in the area of the water reservoir on the driver's side. Water was entering and running underneath the driver's seat. Right there, in what is probably the lowest point, is the side airbag sensor, and its connectors then 'bathe' in the water. Check if it's wet there in your car.
It was covered by the warranty at the time, which meant that...
Remove the seat, take up the carpet, let everything dry, replace the sensor, remove the hood and seal the weld. If I had to pay for all of that myself...
Good luck, HarryD.
