Hello,

Before I travel, possibly on or around October 17th, I wanted to ask if anyone here has experience with PD (port fuel injection) engines that have been running for a long time (ideally over 100,000 km). Specifically, I'm interested in whether the fuel injection system, along with its components, is prone to "predictable problems" – for example, similar to the nozzle wear seen in VP 37 engines.

Does the current state of your defect statistics say anything about it?

Your issues with the PD elements from the PD Ruckel thread are at least known to me, so you don't need to post everything again here icon_wink.gif

Bye for now
Gruß Ulf

Golf4 from a good friend of mine:

AJM from '99 (one of the first AJMs after the cylinder block coating disaster), now with 145,000 km, chip installed since 2000 with 140PS/408Nm.

Problems: 0
Repairs: 0 (Clutch replaced around 130,000 km)

ZR needs to be done every 60,000 km, and that's annoying. icon_wink.gif

Hi Ulf,

Regarding statistics:

So far, the latest post only contains one or two new data entries, so I haven't created a new version yet - therefore, the latest version is still current.

Best regards,

Jan

Passat with AJM
I bought it again in October 1999.
Installation of an additional control unit from PSI (ATU) with 136 hp and 340 Nm at 40,000 km.
Now, the odometer shows approximately 100,000 km. So far, there have been no mechanical issues, except for the LMM (likely referring to a lambda sensor) which needed to be replaced once.
For this, the torsion bars and suspension were replaced at around 90,000 km, as they had broken and worn out. Overall, I am satisfied.
