Hello,
My Beta Radio (Passat B5, manufactured in 1999) occasionally turns off by itself.
What can be done about it (can the error memory be cleared?)
Thank you very much for your tips!
Crissi. |

Hello,
I had the same problem. It was fixed by temporarily disconnecting the radio (removing all the cables) and then reconnecting it. Okay, ich bin bereit. Bitte gib mir den deutschen Text, den du übersetzt haben möchtest. |

Hello,
Cause:
Under certain operating conditions of the radio, an unintended shutdown of the device may occur due to a software error.
Solution:
Use of modified radios with software version 0017 starting from November 2000. Tschüss

Okay, let me just ask a really dumb question...
Was it originally installed?
I once simply plugged an Audi Chorus radio into the A2 of my sister, who had come from the Netherlands without a radio. It worked quite well, but it only worked without the ignition on, or when the key was removed. It was actually quite simple to fix: VW had swapped the connections for constant power and ignition power!
Therefore, the radio would automatically turn off after one hour to conserve the battery... even when the car was running!!!

Yes.
It was originally installed.
I had this problem before, shortly after my warranty expired. A large dealer from Cologne wanted to offer me a new deal for about 300 items.
Another vendor then fixed the problem, and he said he had 'reinitialized' the device. Unfortunately, I forgot to ask how it's done back then! |
