Hello community - my German is not perfect icon_lol.gif.

I have a 1989 G2 1.8 with a faulty engine, and I want to replace it with a 1.6 TD engine.

Okay, so I need the engine, the transmission, the drive shafts, the fuel tank and filters, plus some electrical components (I'm an electrician, so no problem).

I want to buy a G2 GTD/TD LLK from 1991, import it to Denmark, and attach all the 'good' parts to my 'old' Golf.

Do I want to have problems?

/Jacob

Hi Jakob,

If you have a good donor vehicle with all the necessary parts, it shouldn't be too much of a problem.

Thank you very much, Bertil.

The project will be launched in 3 weeks, and photos (and experiences) will be posted later.

You really only need the engine with the turbocharger and fuel injection pump. The old transmission will fit (even though it probably has a shorter gear ratio), and the radiator hoses are also compatible. As for the electrical system, the 1.6 diesel only has the 'kill' switch to turn it off!

Thank you for your response, Professor Costa.

I bought a Golf II 1.8 in Denmark, and it's not in great condition (the engine is defective). The car cost me 700 EUR (Denmark is EXPENSIVE), and I need parts from a donor vehicle, including the engine, but also the interior, doors, and front hood.
It is possible to register a German Volkswagen Golf II GTD in Denmark, but the taxes cost approximately €5,500 (!), which makes it much cheaper to simply trade it in.

Okay, I hope it's possible to complete the work to compensate for [something] during a weekend at the end of January.

Hear again.
/Jacob
