Hi!
I'm a complete 'diesel newbie' and already have a question. I drive an Audi A6 C4 with a 2.5L TDI AEL engine, 140 horsepower, and a chip tuning module. I recently read the error codes, and it showed code 00550 (Injection timing control - deviation). Sorry, but what exactly does that mean (I've already looked at the overview)? And more importantly, could this be caused by the chip? What's the best way to proceed?
Thank you very much and best regards.
Mathias.

Hello Mathias,
means that the injection start time is not reached or is not reached quickly enough to match the target value.
can be set to the value specified in the characteristic map.
Sure, it could be due to the chip (e.g., if it contains values that are mechanically...
(which are not possible). Where did the chip come from? Did you get it on eBay???
Best regards, Rudi.

Hi!
Thank you for the quick response! I have no idea where the chip came from; it was already installed in the car. However, I will now get a new set from my trusted tuner .
I'm also having a problem where, when I accelerate in higher gears, it starts to 'buck' or 'jolt.' It's a Quattro, by the way. According to the forum, this seems to be a common issue with Quattros. Otherwise, it runs well, I would say; I just don't have anything to compare it to.
Regarding the error code, it could be related to this chipset. Does this always happen when a TDI engine has been tuned with a chip, or only with a poorly written program?
Best regards,
Mathias

Hello,
No, that's not typical for chip tuning.
The simplest possible cause for the problem you're experiencing could be a slowly clogging diesel particulate filter.
To find all possible sources of error, the best approach is as follows:
- Read articles on troubleshooting.
- Populate the search function with the following keywords: "550 AEL". If you then restrict the search to the error database, you should be able to find every case.
Best regards, Rainer.

Hi!
I used the search function and read the articles carefully, but I couldn't come to any conclusion. So you're saying it can't be a problem with the chip, no matter what's inside?
I'm going to change the filter; I have no idea when the previous owner last changed it.
Best regards,
Mathias

Rainer only said that it's not normal.
You can still program, even if you're having a bad time.
Best regards, Rudi.
