Hello everyone!
I recently noticed something strange.
I was driving on the highway, and there wasn't a soul to be seen. So, I wanted to activate the cruise control (GRA) at 180 km/h so that it would maintain that speed.
I drive a 1999 Audi A3 (8L) with a 1.9 TDI ALH engine, 90 horsepower.
The funny thing was, he didn't speed up; instead, he gradually slowed down to just below 160 km/h and maintained that speed. I also couldn't increase the speed using the cruise control slider.
I think it can't be. Does the cruise control have a throttle limit, such that it can only apply 3/4 throttle or something like that?
Does anyone know what might be causing this?
By the way, there are no error codes stored in the control unit.
According to the speedometer, the top speed was slightly more than 190 km/h. It was a straight, flat highway. With the manual transmission and when pushing it hard, it's no problem to maintain a speed of at least 180 km/h.
Thank you for your tips!
Regards,
Christof. |

Hello!
At BMW, the speed limit is also capped at 160 km/h for safety reasons.

I cannot confirm that information regarding BMW.
My uncle has a 328i, manufactured in 1999, and I've set the cruise control on it even at 240 km/h. Maybe it's different today. In Mercedes vehicles, the cruise control system can also be set to its maximum speed.

The cruise control on a 2000 BMW E38 740d only works up to 160 km/h.
or is that due to the activation? |

I can activate the cruise control in my Golf AHF even up to 200 km/h. If.
However, when it starts going uphill, he can't maintain that speed anymore, which is logical.
I am not aware of any 3/4 gas vehicles with cruise control. I can.
It reminds me of a similar post. The problem back then was the mass airflow sensor.
I can't seem to find the post right away. |
