Hello everyone,
'When I start my engine, it runs for a very short time, about 1-2 seconds, and then it just turns off. That's why I also broke down on the highway.'
The Golf is equipped without an immobilizer.
I hope someone can give me a tip about which electronic component might be broken.

This is actually the classic WFS symptom - when it starts up well, runs normally for about 1 second, and then shuts off as if someone had turned the key.
How does your engine compare to that?

How did your car behave before it broke down?

Is your tank empty?
Is the fuel filter sealed?
Read any technical articles?

Hello Ulf,
My Golf does not have a wheel locking system, and I have read several articles on the subject, including one about the wheel locking system (WFS), but that doesn't apply to my situation.
The tank is full.
Injectors are supplying fuel, and the magnetic valve on the fuel injection pump is working correctly.

The engine was running normally before.

Until then, HOMEONEARTH icon_exclaim.gif.

No air in the diesel line.
The filter has been replaced.
Thank you, Wulfi.

Motor control adjusted? -> Is the ZR gear on the crankshaft loose?
Before the next start, check and hope that the valves are not already misaligned icon_evil.gif.

My tip:
Ignition switch X-contact. I also had this issue with my '94 Golf TDI, model 1Z.
New ignition switch contacts (of course, just the contacts) and everything is okay again. The contact housing has also been redesigned by VW due to some defects.

Regards,
Heart.

Are you sure?
The G3 model received a built-in, yet invisible, WFS (Wireless File System) relatively early on.

My 1994 TDI (Europe) definitely didn't have one. What year is it?

Heart.

Hm icon_eek.gif icon_question.gif
X is the "accessory contact".
What does that have to do with the engine running, which, as far as I know, is only "connected to terminal 15"?

'At the time, I had connected the amplifier through that specific X-contact, unfortunately without inserting a relay. The amplifier's power consumption damaged the X-contact. I don't have a wiring diagram available, but isn't the control unit also powered through this contact? The car started perfectly, and when I released the ignition key, the engine stopped again. The mechanic at VW mentioned a known problem with this X-contact during the replacement. The cost was approximately 20 euros.'

Heart.

The 1994 model definitely didn't have WFS. Sometime during the transition from the MJ95/96 model (around August/September 1995), the G3 model received WFS.
Interestingly, the MJ model change from 1995 to 1996 can even be recognized from the outside. The side turn signals in the fender of the 1995 model are rectangular, while the 1996 model has oval side turn signals.

Hey, you guys all seem to be in a good mood.

I will continue to follow up on the X KOTAKT issue, because the motor is controlled via a relay, RIGHT???

Regarding the valves, I will also check those.

However, PLEASE FORGET ABOUT THE 'TRAVEL RESTRICTION' FEATURE, I DEFINITELY DO NOT HAVE ONE!

February 1996, no immobilizer, OK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thank you in advance. If anyone knows what it might be, please just post it to me.

X cannot be the answer!

It fails in the "Start" position anyway - after all, no TDI engine has ever started in that position!

The low beam headlight is attached to the "X" - you can easily see it there.

@home: How do you know for sure that you don't have WFS?

Hello Martin,
I probably meant relay 109. Sorry, and I know about my WFS because I never had one. The Golf is actually a VW Bus T3. I converted the TDI myself and have been driving it for over 2 years without any problems.

I just didn't want to distract from the main issue, because it doesn't matter whether it's a Golf or a VW bus.

I hope you understand what I mean.

Thank you very much for the X contact information.
