Hello everyone,
Today, I removed the speedometer from my Audi 80 B4 TDI, manufactured in 1993, to replace the illumination bulbs because the lighting on the right side was no longer working properly. I took two bulbs from an old speedometer that I had at home and replaced the faulty ones.
'At the same time, I also unscrewed the circuit board to take a closer look at it! I then carefully reassembled everything and installed it in my car! When I reconnected the battery and tried to test the lighting, I barely saw anything because almost all the lights were out! It was also difficult to see the outside temperature display! I had the ignition on and my radio playing, when suddenly my mini-check beeped and indicated that the battery voltage was too low!'
My question now is, could it be that the battery is the reason the lighting isn't working (even with the engine running), or did I overlook something during the assembly?! All the connectors are properly inserted, and otherwise everything seemed to be fine!!
I tried using the search function, but unfortunately, I couldn't find anything.
'Thank you in advance!'
Best regards,
Michael.

No, that can't be right. As soon as the engine starts, you should have a sufficiently high battery voltage. You probably didn't get it 100% correct when assembling it or connecting the plug...
Regards,
Sure, here's the translation:
"Guste" is a German word that means "gust" or "gust of wind." It can also be used to describe a sudden burst of something, such as laughter or anger.

It's been resolved... the problem more or less solved itself...!!
I looked at everything again, reassembled it, and yes, it worked again!
Best regards,
Michael.

I re-examined everything, took it apart again, and then put it back together, and yes, it worked again!

It might have just been a brief contact... but I'm glad everything is okay now!
Best regards,
Michael.

Here's what comes to mind: Is it very complicated to disassemble all of this? And can you then access the total and daily mileage counters from the back? Mine tend to get stuck, and they only start working again after I've fiddled with the reset button, whereas the speedometer needle continues to function . The AI is very easy to expand.
Remove the upper handlebar cover (two Phillips head screws from the lower to the upper handlebar cover).
Two screws are visible on the instrument cluster; remove these, and the instrument cluster can then be taken out.
By tilting the dashboard backward, you can access the connectors, which you can then disconnect. Also, you can remove the instrument cluster without having to remove the steering wheel.
However, it's not easy to access the mileage counters. You'll have to remove and disassemble the speedometer, which can be quite risky. MfG faz

Hello,
In my A4, the instrument illumination is adjusted by turning the 'reset rod' of the trip odometer. I searched for a long time to figure out why the instrument and radio lighting suddenly became so dim after my son played in the car .
I think that accidental twisting can easily happen when working on the combination instrument.
Regards,
Martha.
